Stage two of Networking

Sophomore, Finance/Econ, D1 athlete, 3.5+, student orgs
Transferring to target next year

I met a VP a while back for a top BB (satellite location) during a dinner party when he was in my state. I walked up to him when I could see he wasn't bombarded with people and introduced myself without pissing my pants. Conversation went well, luckly he was a very personable and nice guy so small talk ultimately led to me asking the question, "What could I do to put myself in the best possible position to land an intership within your firm and what can I do now to differentiate myself from your other applicants."

I came off firm, mabey too firm but I wanted him to know without hesitation that im serious, driven, qualified, but not entitled. He appreciated my old school demeanor and gave me the time of day by explaining vaguely what his group/counterparts do. His awnser unfortunatly was pretty lame duck and said to check out their online apps and deadlines. Before he left however he gave me his card and said if I needed anything he could help. One week later I emailed but no response. Im worried he just blew smoke and that my "in" isnt anymore.

This was all last year when I was a freshman and since, he has been promoted to MD. In one month he's comming back to the same annual dinner but now im a sophomore. There's a 99% chance he will remember me but where do I go from here?

There's a 99% chance he won't remember you.

My advice? Re-introduce yourself and have the same script as last year. You're more competitive now anyway. You should have sent more than one follow-up email.
