Starter watch for An1
Would like some recommendations for a starter watch for my first year. Looking at like 250-$500 for budget? Ik next to nothing about watches so any help is appreciated. Just want something nice that I can wear to office and out but isn’t too flashy
Casio AQ230/240.
I like the Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 - can't go wrong with any leather band
unrelated but why even spend $200-$500 on a watch right now, just buy a nicer watch after bonus. to me spending money on something you intend to replace in a short amount of time is a waste of money. Just buy an apple watch and upgrade after bonus. idk, just my thoughts, curious to hear others opinions.
Good point boss - might just go with the casio since it's under 100 and then upgrade. Hopefully I know more about watches by then
honestly bro, atp, don’t even buy anything, no offense 😂
Automatic Seiko 5 or Seiko Presage
Patek
Apples watch
Get whatever you like.
George Men's Watch: Matte Silver Tone Case

Good non standout watch with great looks,
Anytime you work past 3AM, you leave your watch glass smashed with what time you logged off set for the arms. then go buy another one of these watches and repeat. the watch is 12 dollars you are a big investment banker in the big finance. Buy these bulk, thanks
Honestly, would be a cool art piece to have like 50 of the same broken watches lined on a canvas each with the time of a deal close or a super late night or something memorable good/bad.
Biggest advice for that price range is buy on Jomashop. Much better prices for the same thing. There's a few mechanical Hamilton Khaki Fields near the top of your price range, but otherwise just go Seiko/Orient/Citizen. Personally don't really care for the Tissots available sub-500 since I don't like quartz but to each their own.
In a totally different direction you might be able to find a vintage Omega dress-style watch in that range on ebay. Just make sure it runs & has been serviced if you go that route.
Orient Bambino is the move. ~$300 for an Italian designed, Japanese engineered watch. Classy enough but you don’t have to worry about it getting stolen
This. Orient Bambino V7 - looks great and is mechanical (perfect for the IB grind)
I’d save up and get something really nice after a couple years
Baume e mercier el classima is a solid option. I spent $1100 on mine as an AN1 with the basic white / silver face and paired it with a dark brown leather band
At that price point I would avoid the Gucci, Ferragamo, Versace types of watches. Brands like tissot, Seiko, citizen are all good bets. My first watch was a citizen eco drive and one time I even accidentally put it in the washing machine and it still worked after.
Any Tissot, it's a solid brand for a first watch and one you can't go wrong with
Mondaine is pretty good. Throughout the thread some decent names thrown in
Fuck it - Just wait and save up for a used Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.
Tissot PRX is timeless for entry level
PRX the only way to go
