the correct answer would be to outline her stance on policies relating to the finance industry, the ECB, the EU, Brexit, china, Iran. The purpose of this question is to determine if you follow/are interested in politics to the extent where you understand the effect of politics on financial markets.

They are not asking your political views...rather they are asking if you understand how political choices affect economic outcomes, and to demonstrate that knowledge.

For example, in the US, Trump's political views have a very strong influence on the markets...and a comment from Trump on twitter can move S&P futures 30 points (or more) In Germany, Merkel has similar influence...so anybody interested in German/European finance should be similarly informed.

just google it...you're welcome

I think he was just looking for an opinion based on some knowledge or if you would try to BS your way through it. If you don't have an answer probably best to say you don't have an opinion yet but will do some research about how she has affected markets and get back to them.

If they were trying to be funny they would have asked you: "What is the average air speed velocity of a laden swallow?" Answer - European or African swallow or you could go all science on them and talk about needing to know the difference between ground speed and air speed...forget it. If someone wants to know that detail you probably wouldn't want to work with them.
