Stress induced insomnia affecting performance

so overwhelmed I am constantly stressing myself out to the point when I try to sleep I can’t sleep. Some nights I get maybe 30 minutes others 1 hour despite going to bed early and it’s been going on for 2 weeks now. Tried melatonin and this doesn’t work. In turn this is affecting performance and I can’t focus or think sharply which leads to more stress and more insomnia. How should I navigate this?

Tough it out. Many people in this industry face insomnia. I once went 3 days without sleep and it didn't affect my performance.

Whatever you do, don't listen to this guy. Recipe for disaster.

Eat healthy, don't eat near bedtime, get a good workout in and talk to a psychiatrist if you need sleep meds temporarily to set your body clock.

I agree, but be very wary of the sleep meds - an easy path to get addicted to them. But, not a terrible thing to get addicted to compared to other things…

Yeah I take a non addicting sleep med.

Mind sharing what you take? I’ve been battling insomnia for a while now. It didn’t bother me until college, although I was playing multiple sports in high school so I slept like a baby.

Now, no matter what I do or how tired I am, I can’t beat it. I’ve tried breathing exercises, working out, various highly recommended natural supplements. Nothing works and it takes 1-3 hours to fall asleep, and then I always wake up around 530 and it takes another 1-1.5 hours to fall back asleep (if I even do). I’m cursed and have accepted it.
