Stuck and Lost

SO I was interviewing with a firm for analyst. It went well. I was told that some one will get back to me. The first person I got interviewed by called me back after almost a month. She informs me that hiring is done for this year. ..

She says she would still like to meet me! She asked me come to the office and meet her and another person. I said fine.

I am little confused... She is telling me that hiring is done. at the same time she wants to meet me? She was being very polite and nice. Is this an informal interview for future?

Shall I prepare if this is a super saturday material?

Please advice

Sounds like a date...

It is never bad to meet with a recruiter for a firm you want to work for. I doubt she is being duplicitous about the opportunity, they are all probably filled. There is always FT or next year if you are a sophomore like me. Also, who has filled summer slots by mid december? that sounds a little crazy unless its for asia or the UK.

Ok, so they told you that they would get back to you but you did not hear from them after almost a month and you did not contact them in the interim? I would have contacted them a few days after the interview to ask for feedback... and kept pinging them every week or so to see what was up.

In all likelihood they just picked someone else over you or perhaps they just cut back on hiring altogether due to market conditions (don't take it personally).

I do not think coming to meet them constitutes Super Saturday material. In all likelihood it is just them wanting to see if you're still interested and whether or not they should "keep you on the list." (in case one of their hires falls through or something changes).

If you are still interested, say you're disappointed not to have heard back from them and that you are currently considering several options you have. If anything changes, you would consider discussing the position with them again and look forward to hearing from them.

I was in touch with them and they were not replying... but I am an expereince hire..

I really liked the firms.. what should be my approach to them... and what should I say..

This was not the HR. These ppl are on Deal team. If it was HR I would not even bother.. but these guys are pros.. Very smart ppl..

Please any input on how to make this meeting more positive for me will be appreciated

Guys,

How shall I keep my discussion.. I am not sure is this informal interview ? I am nto sure how to prepare.. But If its not an interview .. a just simple meeting. What should be my approach to show them I like the firm consider me and dump the other analysts.. hahah

I am not even sure how long they want to meet me for .. but I would like to set a good impression...

I would make it sound like you're still interested and disappointed that they could not take you. Reiterate your enthusiasm for the firm and how they'd be at the top of your list if it were still available. That said, you do have other options you are now considering. If anything changes on their end or if anything has already changed, you would be very interested in entering discussions with them again.

This shows that (1) you are still interested and like them. Enthusiasm goes a long way. And 2) you are not desperate and other firms are interested in you.
