Summer Analyst recruiting during junior year?

I am currently a sophomore at a state school (not target), but more than likely I will be transferring to semi-target (UVA, UNC...etc.) Not sure if I will get in....but I sill want to do IB.

What are some characteristics/qualifications that determine weather or not a student gets the summer analyst IB internship? More specifically, what can I do to place myself in a better position for next year's recruiting.

Please refer to my resume for additional details.

Thank you

What state school do you go to? Im a sophomore as well at a state school and am going through a similar struggle. I have a good deal of experience in finance/econ but most of the big firms are only looking for Juniors for their summer positions.

Same situation as the guys above. I focus on middle market banks and boutiques. You are right that any firm with a structured recruiting pipeline is going to have limited sophomore opportunities. Those few opportunities are also going to be quite competitive. Boutiques and middle market banks get fewer applicants (generally) for fewer spots, but it is likely you will have a better shot there. My plan for the summer is just networking with boutiques and asking if I can work for someone for free for a summer.

Also, in my experience people look to the interests section of the resume for non-finance (or whatever field) related stuff. That's their 1st check on whether they can stomach you for long hours.
