Taking a gap year to improve IB prospects
rising junior here considering a gap to improve my chances at landing an internship my junior summer. Essentially giving myself an extra year to prep. Downside is that all my friends graduate a year ahead and my last year might be a little lonely. Thoughts on this decision?
First, if you're worried about your job search because of COVID, don't things will probably pick up by next year. Second, if you haven't found anything yet, it doesn't mean you can't land a successful internship by next year, or even something mediocre and then lateral to a successful banking position. There are many success/miracle stories, including my own. Third, don't worry about not graduating the same time as your friends. As long as you stay in touch it won't matter and you can easily make friends with people a year younger than you. Best of luck.
don't some banks not allow reapplying doe? i.e. BlackRock (even though it's not technically a "bank")
