TAMU bankers out there?
I'm a Texas A&M student interested in IB. Just wondering if any one has advice on how to get my foot in the door for banking. Also wondering if there are many a&m bankers out there? Mostly in texas?
Thanks

Going to a huge school like A&M is great because it provides a large alumni network and Aggies are notorious for keeping it in the club. The downside is that it can be difficult to standout because you probably have 100 finance majors graduating with a GPA in the 3.3 - 3.8 range every semester (making that statistic up). Hopefully you still have a couple years in school and can take advantage of some of the small programs offered through Mays, Aggies on Wall Street, Tanner Fund, Titans, AIC, etc. These programs should give your resume a little extra pop, and more importantly they will give you access to like-minded students, more helpful faculty, and alumni that want to help out.
Once you catch a break and get accepted to one of these programs, or if you're able to get an interview, don't waste it. Do your homework ahead of time and be prepared, ask insightful questions, be up to date on current market events, know the fundamentals. You won't get many chances, and nobody is going to vouch for you if they're not convinced that you want it bad enough to put in the work.
Horizons Program. That's where you need to look. Pretty much everyone who is in front office energy IB in Houston from A&M went through it and it's where banks recruit from.
Thanks everyone for the advice! Looks like I should really try to get into Horizons and AOWS.
Tejas I'm actually a senior in a 5 yr program
PPA? If so I know quite a few ex-ppa bankers/consultants that made it.
Yeah I'm finance track. Really? I just assumed all PPA kids did Big 4.
If you don't mind me asking, what has your experience been like recruiting/working as a banker?
.
GrandJury what year are you? Were you in Horizons?
Wow I wasn't aware that Horizons was that important. Just thought it might look good on the resume. And is Titans a good idea? Or is that mainly just if you want to get into trading?
.
High School senior here, I know you posted this long ago but if you got into the Horizons program at Texas A&M do you have any tips for someone who wants to get into the program
