Do not base your college decision on this. Also go to NYC if you really want to make it in IB.

  1. I don’t think I could make it into a target.
  1. Do you think I could make it into a top shop without going to a target?

Outside of the schools mentioned, you could throw DePaul and Marquette in there. Not really targets but I know people in the industry that went there

I think I did this right

Alum of one of the two. Yeah there are people in the biz from these places — But it takes a lot of work to get in. Save yourself the pain and go to one of the schools mentioned earlier in the thread.

Uchicago is far and away the # 1 target for chicago firms. Not sure where all these rankings came from. Most of them just take NYC offers instead, which is why they may have less representation

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH

Nerd.

Also absolutely not true.

Edit: Just saw your profile - you were just admitted to UChicago, so that makes sense that you're validating yourself. To be sure (as someone not in financial services who may potentially want to work in financial services), UChicago is not the #1 in Chicago by any means - it's Big10 purely based on numbers. Plus, finance is a very social game and UChicago kids are super smart but tend to skew on the weirder side (at least that is the perception)

Was a 1st year at a small LA school in Iowa this year that puts a kid or 2 into IB every couple of years or so, smaller firms in the MW but doing well with their resources. Anyways, I’m buddies with a 1st year at Iowa who says they put in 20-30 kids every year mainly to Chi but also NYC and occasional SF. Always thought Iowa was a bottom tier academics, but my friend says there’s a program there similar to IU IBW and alum go to serious work to help the kids in the program out. Any other insight? Heard Minnesota might be building a similar club?
