TD Toronto group best exits
Hey curious on the best exits out of TD IBD in Toronto? What do people typically get, what can I expect to get, are there any options in PE in NYC or is it all Toronto based, what are the Toronto PE options that are usually found out of TD, etc.

Replied to you on another thread. Canadian banks are LMM - MM and don’t place well in NYC besides some groups that lateral to EBs. All because they’re the best for Canada doesn’t mean Americans are going to consider them better equipment to BBs. They’re considered on tier or lower than than LMM banks like Stephens, RJ, Lincoln, etc.
So where do they typically exit then?
1. Stay in banking and try to rise the latter. 2. don’t get promoted/pushed out to corp dev. 3. micro cap PE like Novacap, fulcrum etc. Canada just sucks bro these banks are trash pay like trash yet are more competitive than what I’ve encountered in the south.
Don't want to discourage you so I'd recommend lateralling down south if I haven't red pilled you yet. Do you enjoy paying $80 a month on your phone bill?
Agreed and don’t forget that Canada IB is run by seniors who are DEI hardos and won’t be supportive or take much interest in your career unless you are a woman. Go south!
Some idiot here - director in DCM maybe argued in another thread about me how he’d never work in a tier 2/3 city. It’s also a prestige issue - Canadians are obsessed with prestige and not the bigger picture - money. associates in “tier 3” make more than VPs in Toronto.

This is generally accurate. I'd say the better move is to lateral from a Big 5 in TO to an EB or BB in NYC (I've seen these moves a few times, but they aren't common—EB is attainable, but BB is rare).

No one in TD is exiting to a legit NY PE fund. If you are lucky Altas will be your best exit and they only take M&A afaik.
