Tech Banking vs. Restructuring
Current RX analyst and not necessarily a fan of the work. Have the opportunity to lateral to a solid tech shop in SF. Not sure what I want to do long term- ideally PE --> multi-strat HF.
Curious to hear your thoughts on what I should do. I genuinely enjoy tech more than RX but afraid it may not be as "prestigious." Is tech M&A banking a good launchpad for HF?
I rarely comment on prestige stuff but in what world are you comparing "tech banking" prestige to "RX"? They are 2 fundamentally different things. I could get if you were comparing one rx shop to another or one tech bank to another but how does this even work?
I used to work in tech banking. In tech there is little to no restructuring work done. It's priv placements, convert debt pitches, equity offerings and M&A.
If you like tech go do tech.
Is the skillset you develop in Tech good enough for HF?
Top EB rx are known to place very well for HF but if you like tech do tech no doubt
