The Fate of Hong Kong

Many senior professionals in the investment banking industry say that Hong Kong is complete toast.

Foreign capital is pulling out, funds are drying up and collapsing, and the entire finance industry is undergoing strong financial headwinds that it cannot weather. That's the word on the Street.

Senior investment bankers and investment professionals, what's your take? Currently finance makes up 20% of Hong Kong's GDP. What do you think the state of Hong Kong as a financial centre will look like in 5 years? In 10 years?

not too optimistic, but Singapore is boring place so I'll just stay here I guess

It's dying. Was always going to once China took back control.

Singapore is a much friendlier destination for an Asian HQ.

Nobody wants China exposure, geopolotically its a nightmare.

Worst decision ever was giving HK back to China.

Avoid for career. Fine for 1/2 years placement.
