The Maximum age in breaking into Investment Banking should be?

Are there many analysts in Investment banking broke into the career while they were old like (28 or 30) and succeed in it then?
if yes,

1- Should I consider getting an MBA to transition into investment banking or take bachelor in finance first?

2- What was the biggest challenges you faced when starting out in investment banking at old age as an analyst?

3- How did you balance the demanding hours with personal life in investment banking?

4-What’s the most important thing you wish you knew before starting in investment banking?

I wouldn’t use the word “many.”

It helps if you’re 30 but look 25, rather than looking 40.

An MBA is the best path, but I’ve also seen it done by someone as an older undergraduate.

WLB doesnt exist - please stop searching for it.

Given your limited time, purchase and complete the entire BIWS program. Ask your manager, "What has historically been required to secure an early promotion?"—then focus on executing.

There is no age limit but I have the feeling IB gets much worse with age and consulting is a much more natural choice, independent of age. Consulting is also much more diverse and has a variety of older lateral hires.

Clocking in until 1-2am everyday and working Sundays is something else at 21/22 vs 28/29. would never join an IB at that age.

Jumping in to add one data point. The current CEO of Two Sigma Asia Pacific began his career with McKinsey as a first-year Business Analyst at the age of 27.

MBB consulting has an advantage, fast promotion, compared to EB/BB.

There is no maximum age and I've personally worked with Analysts in their late 20s and MBA Associates in mid-30s before.

It is really personal preference but if you are an older Analyst or Associate, you often benefit from being more mature and learning quicker than younger peers. However, you have to have the right mindset and come to terms with working with younger analysts and associates (e.g. putting ego aside and taking orders from Associates/VPs that are a lot younger than you).

IMO unless you want to do IB long term or really like the job, I would not do it simply because the hours will be more painful for you (vs. a 22 year old out of undergrad) and you will likely have more commitments outside of work.
