The Morgan Stanley Discount

As bonus numbers start coming in, I'm interested in hearing about MS all in comp.

Information on here about junior comp has been sparse. Even on previous threads dating back years, there's a big lack of information regarding bonus numbers and all in comp even though it's considered a "Top BB". From the figures, I've seen the numbers have been severely underwhelming in comparison to JPM/GS. Even last year other top BB figures were noticeably higher, but everything relating to MS was silent...

Is the MS discount real?

These differing answers are part of the issue. One person says it’s on the high end of BBs and the next says it’s shit. Can’t imagine it’s that good if there’s so much spread in responses on every thread.

I have heard internally that we (MS) smooth over bonuses traditionally. So you won't make a lot more (esp. relative to other US BBs) in good years but there is more downside protection in bad years. Not sure if that's true but guess I will find out next year.
