Thoughts on BNP Paribas M&A Team (Europe)?
Hello fellow chimps,
I just wanted to know your thoughts on the M&A team of BNP Paribas in Europe.
I know it’s a lower tier bank in the US, but what about Europe?
Are they well regarded in the industry? How is their deal flow? Do they offer good exit opps?
Thanks in advance!
From what I know (UK-wise) the only team that is okay is Lev Fin, the others are regarded as "low tier" and are likely to have exits at best at a MM fund.
Obviously take this with a grain of salt since I have been in London IB for 1yr
Apparently expanding in M&A across Europe. Really only seen them active in the CEE M&A space so if you're interested in that geography then it might be a good option for you. Otherwise general perception, from my experience, is that they are a step below the BBs/top boutiques
Do you think that lateraling from a BNP Paribas M&A team in continental Europe to a BB in London would be difficult?
The brand is pretty good so would depend largely on your experience / CV. People have moved from BNPP (and shops in the same bracket) to Tier 1s in London. Sometimes they may ask you to take a hit on level though...
Okay, that doesn't sound too bad. Thank you for your insights, very helpful
