Thoughts on BNP Paribas M&A Team (Europe)?
Hello fellow chimps,
I just wanted to know your thoughts on the M&A team of BNP Paribas in Europe.
I know it’s a lower tier bank in the US, but what about Europe?
Are they well regarded in the industry? How is their deal flow? Do they offer good exit opps?

From what I know (UK-wise) the only team that is okay is Lev Fin, the others are regarded as "low tier" and are likely to have exits at best at a MM fund.
Obviously take this with a grain of salt since I have been in London IB for 1yr
Apparently expanding in M&A across Europe. Really only seen them active in the CEE M&A space so if you're interested in that geography then it might be a good option for you. Otherwise general perception, from my experience, is that they are a step below the BBs/top boutiques
Do you think that lateraling from a BNP Paribas M&A team in continental Europe to a BB in London would be difficult?
The brand is pretty good so would depend largely on your experience / CV. People have moved from BNPP (and shops in the same bracket) to Tier 1s in London. Sometimes they may ask you to take a hit on level though...
