Thoughts on my Next Steps as Graduation Approaches and no FT Offer?

Canadian semi-target graduating in spring 2022, wrapping up a fall internship working at a boutique investment bank, amazing work experience and deal flow, seems like I won't be getting a return offer as it seems they gave return offers to the summer class instead along with recently hiring new analysts/associates in the past few weeks. Still going to ask my MD this upcoming week about a possibility of returning, but since he hasn't mentioned anything, I've kinda lost hope. I get along with the team really well and they all appreciate my hard work/effort as well, so it has been discouraging knowing I haven't heard anything.

Past experiences in the summer working at another smaller boutique M&A shop and other experience in PE shop.

Plan is to continue working in IB, and my goal is break into big 6. Middle market advisory, or big 6, I don't mind tbh as the work isn't all too bad (at least up until now).

With my situation, does anyone have any advice on how I can secure something for full time starting summer of fall 2022?

With the year wrapping up, I'm going to go crazy networking in January, but I'm just worried people will be bombarded with students like myself trying to reach out and these individuals will probably be swamped so they'll never reply.

Also, some postings from big 6 banks for lateral hires it seems, is there even a chance they would consider someone like me, an upcoming new grad?

I've also reached out to some recruiters and honestly no luck with getting a response from them and the past few months of networking hasn't gone well as people have been busy, along with myself.

Any thoughts and tips would be appreciated as I'm sure there's many people in a situation like myself.

Thanks everyone and happy holidays.

Thanks for the reply. I have considered it, but personally don’t feel like doing any more school at least not right now. Maybe later in like 3-4 years if at all. Maybe considering CFA level 1, but that’s even as relevant.

Just keep recruiting and if you still somehow don’t get anything (even like TAS at an accounting firm) then do something entrepreneurial to fill the gap in your resume, even if you don’t do shit at least go through the filings to create a company. When interviewers in the future ask, you can just talk about how you wanted to try being an operator to gain experience and it failed and then talk about what you learned

I don’t know not sure how it works in Canada but just go hard on the networking, you’re in a good spot with your prior experience

So an update as to what happened basically is that the MD said if there's a position in the future, I'll be kept top in mind. Like I said, they hired a few analysts and associates with my time here as deal flows been high so if anything opens/if they need more people, they'll hopefully bring me on. I just don't think there's a need at least not for right now. I think if I wasn't going back to school for another semester, he'd hire me right away.

I just didn't want to be too pushy as it seems like their decision was very clear - a lot of direct messages wishing me luck in the future and not really mentioning returns other then we'll stay connected for future positions.

Other interns didn't get return offers either and I personally believe I performed better, as I've stayed up for much latter nights working on pitches and doing a lot of other tedious tasks with the whole team (just a thought, of course many other factors).

I'll continue networking and hope for the best. Does anyone have tips on how to get to recruiters, or is that even worth it? Thanks
