Too Casual?

I had an interview yesterday with a large European bank in a local office for a private banking position. The interview was very conversational as it was a personality fit interview, but I never really got a chance to talk about my internship. We spent more time talking about sports and golf and high schools and such.

Is this a good thing? While I talked about my internship a little, I never really gave them a good overview of what I did. After a while I felt like I was talking to a friend rather than a prospective employer.

You just said it was a "personality fit interview." As long as the interviewer got to participate on equal terms and enjoyed the conversation, I wouldn't be worried. It's good you could feel comfortable. If the guy/gal wants to talk sports, talk sports.

The purpose of a personality interview is to screen out those that you don't want to have to spend 8+ hours a day with for years. If the conversation went well and the interviewer didn't have to resort to more technical or resume questions just to pass the time you did fine.
