Top Bucket Analysts, what do you do that sets you apart?

To all the top bucket analysts at BB/EB/MM's, what do you do that sets you apart from the rest of the pack? Is it that you're just smarter on paper and in business? Or is your work ethic on another level compared to your peers? Or luck? What is it? Curious to what all of you have to say.

Know the main drivers, be able to analyze information and get conclusions based on that data

Understand the industry dinamics and trends

Be able to understand strategic rationales and what makes sense (so you can add value and dont depend exclusively on your associate)

Learn when to work hard (dont lose time in stupid things) and when its needed, do push yourself

If you give your best at every task, trust me you will not deliver high qualityt content for important pitches / RfPs / Deals. Prioritize!

Not sure where my comment went but I think it’s mostly work ethic. You get crushed as a top bucket and need to be genuinely interested in the work to not burn out quickly. They pay increase is nowhere near commensurate with the workload increase. Most analyst would probably rather be solidly good and maintain the ability to enjoy an occasional weekend / slow week. After that, it comes down to trust. Senior teams needs to trust that you’ll deliver work on time and that they won’t need to check it thoroughly for mistakes.
