Almost every EB and BB run their energy groups out of Houston. Top options would be Evercore, Moelis, and Lazard due to their restructuring capabilities as well as traditional powerhouses such as Jeffries, Citi, Barclays, and CS. If you're serious about Oil and Gas look at TPH or Simmons (Piper Sandler).

Infrastructure groups often sit in NYC but I'm sure there are some opportunities in Chicago. Maybe somebody else could comment on that.

Please look at the recent threads about Houston IB. Would not say this advice is the most current.

If interested in boutiques, EVR, MoCo, Intrepid, TPH, PJT (small Houston presence), and HL are good.

If interested in BBs, GS, JPM, BarCap, and CS are all good but cultures are generally not as strong as the boutiques.

Assuming you’re going to Booth full time program, the IB Group will give you this info. My experience: Not going to find many Power/Utilities/Renewables teams in Chicago besides Marathon and perhaps Nomura Greentech (Nomura recruited only for NY/SF my year so maybe only Marathon). Banks almost exclusively run their Power/Utilities/Renewables teams out of NY with a few seats in Houston (crossover with O&G) or SF (cleantech).
