Turning down groups

Going through group selections this / next week. One of my previous interviewer wants me to join his group (product). Unfortunately, I am looking to join another group (industry). How do I turn him down in a nice way ?

Anyone has any past experience on this?

Just let him know your final decision beforehand. Most importantly, DO NOT say or hint that you're picking his group first and then ranking him 3rd or some shit or he'll get pissed. If you're honest though, almost everyone will respect your decision.
