UBS IBD vs. GS GIR/ER
Deciding between UBS investment banking (gen.) vs. Goldman global investment research. Literally no clue what to do.

Career Resources
UBS
Any reason? Or just IB over ER any day of the week?
GS ER* isn’t that “great” tbh
By that logic, UBS IBD isn't "that" great either. GS ER is good and UBS IBD is good. OP needs to make a decision between IBD and ER.
Please see this three part guide. I've found it helpful.

GS brand prestige only applies to IB/S&T. GS ER is nothing special (comparatively). UBS had a strong year and you'd have a better career trajectory with them than doing equity research.
Even if not looking to make a long-term career in finance, is UBS still the go-to? I like the idea of working in ER more than IB, but may be misled
You’re on the IB page so majority of people here would prefer IB > ER. Do some research between the two and figure out which path you want to take, both firms are strong no matter what you choose.
GS is a solid name and you'll do fine if you went that route. I've seen people move from ER to IB. Think having GS on your resume will help you generally, not only in banking, but also in other fields. If you don't want to stay in ER, you can easily move to a decent strategy, IR, or corp dev role in industry. Most boutiques will consider a GS ER associate for IB associate roles.
UBS IB is probably the more solid choice here, as you'll gain much better experience if you want to focus on deals for a career.
Take it for what it's worth, people in ER tell me it's a horrible business but that's hearsay.
