UBS Sophomore Internships
Does UBS offer a sophomore internship? They never explicitly specify class year anywhere online, but when you're filling out the applications it asks you whether you're graduating at the end of 2018/beginning of 2019 (Current Juniors).
Im pretty sure they only have 1-3 day events in the spring for sophomores, no formal SA program.
shoot, that's what I thought. Thanks for replying!
UBS President's Summer Internship - Sophmore program open to all? (Originally Posted: 01/02/2009)
Does anyone know if this program is designed for minorities, women, etc, or if it is a sophomore program open to all?
pure speculation on my part but it says to email diversity recruiting regarding any questions. I'm assuming they do have general HR people too so if we're being told to email diversity HR...
I think it's open to all, but geared towards minorities and women
from what I heard from a recruiter at UBS, it is officially a sophomore program. However, it is so competitive that it in essence turns out to be URM and female inclined.
that doesn't make sense then... if it's a legit sophomore program, then it should be merit based, not URM/female based... so it is a URM/female program still
i guess the best way of putting it is
it is de jure a legit sophomore program but it is de facto URM/Female
for the discovery program: wtf is the "vision and values statement"? Google gets me to this page: http://www.ubs.com/1/i/about/corporate_responsibility/our_commitment/gu…
but it doesn't say anything about the three core competencies...
Credit Suisse has some awsome soph programs only for urms... but at least they state that in the description
I only know one person who did the program....and she was a female.
a female runs the program
i'm an alum of the program; the program is open to all; my class was evenly split between genders and there was actually a pretty even distribution amongst black/white/asian and a few hispanic; although it is not specifically a diversity program, i believe they aim to get a diverse class comprised of students from an array of backgrounds. best of luck!
URM's.
the asians/whites would be females.
how do they find out you're a URM purely based on resumes? I mean you cant tell a black guy from a white guy just based on name, unless it's like Jamal or something
Anyone know how many people they usually end up choosing?
your in -person final round will probably give it away.
right, but as far as getting first round interviews is concerned, is it true that many non URMs actually get called for interviews?
i would say you should chill out a little and keep in mind that regardless if the candidate is a URM or not, there are only 18 slots for a program where over 1,000 people apply each year. Even if the program only took non-URMs, your chances of getting a call back would not change dramatically given how small the program is. Do your best and try to make the best impression in your interviews. That's the only way you can guarantee success.
well there is a "diversity" section on the application...
btw-has anyone heard back fro this?
where the fuck do you guys see the president's internship? all I see for sophs is the Insights and the Horizons programs.

Has anyone heard about UBS sophomore programs this year? I can't find anything online...thinking they might have canceled them?
I spoke to their recruiting in August and as of then they were still planning to move forward with the "presidents internship" or whatever they call that sophomore program as well as the 2 day event they typically due but who knows things change fast.
Last year the application deadline for the Sophomore Symposium (3-day event) wasn't until like March, so they probably just haven't posted it yet.
True, but the sophomore internship had a deadline in early January. You'd think if it's still going on, they would've started marketing it by now.
Sophomore Rotational Programs (UBS), Interviews (Originally Posted: 12/23/2008)
when do interviews for these programs usually happen? how selective are they?
How's that UBS one?
Does UBS have one? When is the sign-up date?
It already passed; it was Dec. 15th
wrong deadline. Jan. 9th for UBS. They call it the President's program or something.
Is this one of those minority programs? Or is it legit for everyone? Anyone who has gone through it or know someone who was in can comment?
It's legit for everyone. It's a pretty awesome program. I haven't gone through it but I interned there as a rising senior while all the rising juniors were in that program. They have pretty much no responsibility, get exposure to the entire bank, get paid well, and live in NYC. The only responsibility is giving a good enough impression to get an offer to come back the following summer, which isn't easy. So bring you're A-game.
Any more information on this program (President's Program)? Tried to google it but nothing came up?
Yeah I'm curious as to where you can apply for it - I didn't see it on their website.
UBS Sophomore Symposium: applications, more info? (Originally Posted: 03/18/2011)
anyone apply/heard back?
i think they should have decided by now...not sure though
I applied and haven't heard back yet
will they let you know if you got rejected? or only if you got in?
but i havent heard back either
Well I think March 16th (or somewhere close to that) was the last day to apply, so it should be a little longer before everyone starts hearing back from them. But I'm not sure.
.
Applied / haven't heard back.
Deadline was March 11.
Anybody hear back yet?
Not yet
Yea Have any of you all heard back? What are the chances of getting in if you were not invited for the interview for the Presidents internship?
Still haven't heard back.. Should we assume that not hearing back by now means we won't get in?
in hong kong it's called "ubs industry insights program", same 3-day event, heard back about 2 weeks ago already.
Anyone heard back yet? :(
I heard back last night about a phone interview.
Anyone receive decisions yet? Supposed to be going out today/tomorrow.
Yeah, I got an invitation earlier today.
I'm an "alternate"... Loathe.
Iamnotamonkey, were you phone interviewed? I still haven't been contacted at all.
Phone interviews occurred last week. Decisions were supposedly sent out yesterday. My interviewer said last week that around 1500 people applied, 100-120 people got phone interviews, approximately 75 people will get/got accepted.
Just got my invitation today so evidently they are still going out.
anyone heard about travel arrangements?
No, nothing on travel/scheduling yet. Supposed to be sent out this week though.
Wow, is it really necessary to interview for this three day program?
Do other programs of this type give interviews, or is that of UBS the only one?
I didn't really understand the interview part, I guess they don't want to waste their time/money on kids who are too socially awkward to have a phone conversation.
Yes. That is why. You probably talked to someone in HR or maybe an AD and twenty minutes to screen kids who suck seems to make sense.
Just got an e-mail about travel arrangements actually.
Email with travel arrangement info came out minutes ago.
They do phone screens because they're the bank with the largest, most visible sophomore professional development program. Like the kid above said, about 1,500 kids apply for DB has the Demystifying Investment Banking Program. All of those are either smaller in scale or less-known than UBS' program; fewer people apply, fewer spots are available, and fewer get in. Only reason I list all the above is just because I either have been or am involved with all of them. See you guys there.
UBS Soph Program Superday Questions (Originally Posted: 04/18/2013)
So I have a superday interview coming up for the UBS Early Insights program for sophomores, and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the kinds of questions they ask for sophomore programs? I'd assume they're less technical than normal SA interviews -- that being said has anyone been through this process and know for sure? And for UBS in particular?
Does anyone know how many people typically move on to Superdays/final rounds to begin with? I think this program takes 15-20 people.
And another question - it is customary for people to fill out an employee application BEFORE final round interviews?
Question: how did your interview go? what types of questions did they ask? And do you remember when the posting for the application to the program was posted online? I've got a contact at UBS who told me the soph program at UBS hasn't been posted yet but will be soon.
