Depends on location. I can think of a one location so bad that it's incredibly important to network elsewhere...

Generally not necessary in London, sure it wont hurt but London recruiting is heavily HR driven at the SA level
how about for full time in the uk?
It wont hurt you but highly unlikely that anyone could get you an interview from a good chat like in the US
does anybody have info on how open banks would be to internationals? i study at a target masters in the US (sloan/booth/princeton). + which banks are more open to sponsoring? (eg. i know gs does)
generally speaking, UK BB and EB 's are better in terms of sponsoring in comparison to the US.
actually pretty much every banks are open to visa sponsorship. BB and EBs and some top MMs do also sponsor visa for internship as well
