Undergrad Senior: Consulting to Finance

Hi everyone! I am an upcoming undergrad senior at a target school (essentially a feeder into IB), currently interning at a decent consulting firm. Over the past two months or so, and especially in the past few weeks since starting my job, I have realized that I would much rather be in finance. To provide some background, I had been very torn between consulting and finance during the recruiting process. Although I settled on the consulting route, I had interviews with a couple banks and conglomerates (RBS, PNC, MUFG, etc.) but received no offers. Also, since I had not sufficiently prepared for technical questions and seriously doubted my chances at the BBs, I did not apply to those.

I am wondering if you could provide me with some advice on how to transition into finance. After doing a fair amount of research, I am confident that I would like to start my career in Equity Research (I posted in IB hoping this would get more views). Since I am obviously not a summer analyst, I realize that this will be a very difficult move to make. I am double majoring in Finance and Management with a 3.58 GPA. In the past, I have interned at a small consulting firm and the largest online retail mortgage lender in the US. I have also been quite involved in both a microfinance and consulting organization on campus, among other solid extracurricular experiences. Regarding my hopeful transition, I would appreciate any and all insight you can give on how to maximize my chances during fall recruiting. I am willing to do whatever it takes. Thanks in advance!
