Used car/subway/carpooling: Which one?!

Should I carpool, take the subway, or just get a used car? I won't be working late, so I guess I could take the subway and not get shot by some gangbanger. By the way, my budget for the car is $2000-$20,000. I don't mind riding in a junker for a while. I don't really know anyone I could carpool with.

8BitI'm going to live in a lowrise, and I might just park it on the curb (I want one of those super sensitive car alarms).

Maybe I should drag around a toilet to show people that I AM THE SHIT.

For a dude who made a post because you were worried garbage trucks would wake you, are you really sure you want to go outside everytime your alarm goes off because someone leaned on your $2k car?

Street parking in Manhattan is a nightmare yes, but garages are everywhere if you absolutely must drive...though I can't say I see the point in Manhattan, pubic transit is pretty good (at least for now).

This is a joke right, if you actually live in the city this isn't even a question. You walk or ride the subway. There is no such thing as carpooling in NYC, you won't have the money to have a car anywhere in the city.

Elsewhere in the country, if there is a good public transit system take it and if not get a car.

This board seems to get dumber by the day.

Every time my family visited NYC we would use my grandparents car with the NYC disability parking sticker and thus could park right in front of the Met.

having a car for the summer in nyc??? what are you thinking/where are you from???!!! no you do not need a car if you are an intern and living in manhattan in the summer, take the subway like everyone else. besides, do you know how long looking for parking on the street at night is going to take, and depending on where you live, there might not be any within a ten minute walk.

you should probably memorize a subway map before you get here so you at least seem like you know whats going on to other people.
