Using official name of company on my resume?

Would using the full official name of a company be seen as pretentious, more official, or wouldn't make a difference?

Ex. Writing 'The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.' instead of just 'Goldman Sachs' on your resume.

Sure. And if you went to school at Stanford for example, make sure to write its full name too as The Leland Stanford Junior University. Have to be consistent...bankers love that attention to detail.

Not sure if you're serious, but in the HBS resume books they just write Stanford University.

if you like it then you shoulda put a banana on it

GS should be written on a resume as "Goldman, Sachs & Co."
Actually, it should be written simply as GS. That way, if the interviewer asks, "What's GS?", you can stare at them like they're retarded and then shout, "GOLDMAN! FUCKING! SACHS! EVER HEARD OF IT?!"

I guess if you were a GS & Co. employee - but that is the US Broker Dealer only. If you worked abroad or for their Bank, then you were not a Goldman, Sachs & Co employee. GS Co is just one of many entities under the parent.

For historic reasons (at least in the US, no idea about intl CVs), former/current employees generally use what I wrote, despite the top level public entity being The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

I would advise you to keep in the top line both your function and the firm's name

e.g. "Grand Keymaster and Gatekeeper, Knight of the Brazen Serpent" .
