I've been doing some research on virtual data rooms and would love to hear some feedback from others. I setup demos with reps for various cloud based services as I'd like to have alternative options for clients. Some don't have the budget, or don't want to pay the higher fees for Intralinks, Datasite, etc and those platforms seem to be overkill for the mid market stuff I tend to deal with. The one I think I'll be recommending is Caplinked although there were some others that had similar functionality, good reviews, and similar pricing. Caplinked is a US based company whereas the others are Australia (Ansarada), UK (iDeals), Canada (Firmex). Anyone have insight on these and what's your preference from the old standard services?
We rarely use Intralinks or Merrill and only do so when the client asks us to. The remaining deals from our office have been done on Caplinked (60%), iDeals (15%), Sharefile (15%), other (10%).
Why do 40% go on other platforms at all? Why not just stick to one?
In those cases it's just because the people on the deal are more familiar with the others and they don't want to change.
Ansarada is pretty decent and accessible by most banks. Easy to use
The Ansarada interface seemed intuitive, but at $1,000 USD per month it was more than double the price of others that were very similar and included 5GB of data. At 4GB they're $1,800 USD/month.
Interesting, when we signed up, the pricing wasn't based on size..
Just use intralinks bro. It's really not that expensive and buyers/investors tend to be most familiar with it.
I’ll go to Intralinks right after I give up my iPhone for a Blackberry device. 😂😂😂 Just kidding, but I know what you’re saying. The thing is, of all the cloud based software I demoed, they all did what I need them to do and the price difference was significant. I can get our clients five figures in savings. 💰
