One of the stronger groups at WFS for sure. Have been left on a couple decently high profile IPOs in recent years - especially Athene, Apollo's Insurance unit, and KKR's REIT too i believe. Not sure how they stack up against the street beyond that. The team also sits in NY I believe which is good - new Hudson yards office is bananas. 65th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, sweeping views of the whole city.

Does anyone know about the exit ops from this group? Also, how true is it that joining a group like FIG will pigeonhole you?

Very strong in mortgage/spec fin due having a captive mortgage company (Wells Fargo Home Lending) and a strong asset-backed finance & securitization practice. Chris Small is the head of the group. Recently had a few senior bankers go to Piper. Biggest strength comes from debt and lending through High Grade, LevFin, and warehouse lines of credit for mortgage/loan companies. They earn a few mandates from those relationships.

Recent deals:

Anworth / ReadyCap

AmeriHome IPO (canned) and sale to Western Alliance (recently announced)

Pretium / Deephaven (WFS advisor to Varde, Deephaven's owner)
