Wells Fargo VS Citi

Hi IB forum,

Just wondering if anyone can give me insight into a general IB offer from Wells Fargo vs a Financial Strategy and Solutions Group offer from Citi. What are the pros/cons to each and any general thoughts.

(For context I am an undergrad)

Thanks!

nvm i thought citi was non-ib

citi FSG > wells ib for pe exits and overall perception

just cause you work in dcm and you have no shot at a pe exit, doesn't mean ppl don't care about potential pe exits when deciding between ib offers

+ wrong info on citi fsg wells ib may be better for pe depending on group

Citi FSG -- this is a no brainer.  They are still considered IB, but if you want to lateral into traditional coverage or M&A, it's not that difficult.  That said, FSG does some pretty cool / interesting work.

FSG is a weird group. Haven’t heard or seen too many good things but if you can lateral to another group at citi take the citi offer. If you think you can land one of Wells top groups (regal, fig) I think wells would for sure be the better play

I would take Wells if you can land a top group like REGAL, FIG, P&U maybe TMT

Culture is much better and WLB seems light years better than at Citi. Compensation for Wells also seemed much higher and the NY office is much nicer. With that said, you can end up in Charlotte wheras with Citi you don't have to worry about the placement process

Citi FSG is not real banking. You'll get dunked on and out-alpha'd by the real bankers while you are running ratings agency adjustments and other back office tasks on their behalf

Take Wells offer and dont look back

Not sure about Citi’s group but is financial strategy and solutions really an IB group? Sounds more like a consulting type role
