My office - SF Bay Area BB:
VPs usually leave around 6-8pm MDs usually leave before VP (some MDs don't show up in office at all)
Time spent in the office is a poor indicator of actual hours spent working. Sure, the VP or MD might leave the office at 6PM, but he/she is still going to be doing work when he/she gets home. Contrary to popular belief, the time commitment increases as one moves up the ladder at an IB.
MD's/D's pretty much always out of the office by dinner time when they come into the office. Problem is that they travel a ton and every MD also works from home a fair amount (but I'd much rather be the MD marking stuff up on my ipad during commercials for TNF than the analyst trying to decipher the scribbles).
VP's have similar lifestyles but maybe a little less travel and more time spent in the office, including a few later nights.

Hey Guys,
I tried to do a search for this question and did not come up with many great responses.
While many people are interested with analyst comp/lifestyle, I would like to know the differences as you move up the ladder.
For S&T (and Private Banking if u know):
How much better do the hours get (if you can give us a range that would be great)?
Does the work change/become more interesting?
Do you feel any less pressure/ more job security?
Overall, do you like your job much more OR is it the same old shit?

For S&T (am pretty junior but commenting on my interpretation of senior level):
How much better do the hours get (if you can give us a range that would be great)? No not really, it's pretty close to the the same as junior level, which hours aren't too bad to begin with.
Does the work change/become more interesting? It doesn't change too much, you're doing largely the same thing whether you're junior or senior.
Do you feel any less pressure/ more job security? No, as a senior person you're expected to perform, so arguably there is more pressure.
I did a S&T summer internship. From my perspective, it seemed like the senior guys do more or less the same stuff as the juniors, with the added perk of being able to make the interns/junior people deliver their coffee. That said, they do leave a bit earlier at the end of the day, but the difference isn't that substantial. As an intern, I made sure to be the last one out, which was typically only an hour or so after my director left.
7 to 5, + you can go to the gym in the middle of the day or run errands but you have to wine and dine the clients at least 2 times /week
