Personally, I would never date at the workplace. I don't judge when others do it but I don't think it is appropriate or ideal. When things turn sour you'd still see the other person on a regular basis and that only adds drama to workplace dynamics.
If I had to date at work I would go for the ones I like and are smart (that combination also exists).

Although their numbers are smaller (Okay, a lot smaller) than male counterparts, women dominating Wall Street is possible. To those who dine in the shadows of sexism and get off to locker room talk, it may be surprising to hear about a program like JP Morgan’s Winning Women, an initiative that shows young women that banking is not just full of men like WSO user, Heister.
Not only does such a program exist, but it also does fairly well in turning over internships and jobs to young women interested in banking. Of course, JPM has a lot of “winning women.” Take a look at Mary Erdoes (pictured above), CEO of JPM’s asset management division. Or Heidi Miller, the head of JPMorgan Chase’s international efforts. Even better, Ina Drew, the bank’s chief investment officer. It’s no secret that women are increasingly putting off marriage to pursue professional careers. Maybe to much surprise, women account for about 13% of WSO’ user base. While women only make up for 2.7 to 3 percent of Wall Street and F500 CEO’s, their numbers are growing. So lads, be careful what you bark, because, one day, we might all be slaving orders from a winning women.

The program is purely a networking event to introduce the world of finance to women and encourage those from the top schools, with high grades, and aptitude to consider a field they may otherwise not apply for because of lack of awareness or assumptions (e.g., working hours may get in the way of raising a family - true in most cases, but not impossible, or high level of sexism - depends by firm and group, but otherwise not like the 60s Mad Men settings).

That's pretty sad that you're so insecure about having a female boss to the point that you're thinking "well, at least at the top it's still a dude" to make yourself "feel better".
I don't know where the fuck you work or where you are and your boss are on the firm food chain, but in the places I've worked FT and interned in finance, there has always been one or two senior women. Some were great to work for, some weren't (as with men and as with all races), but the ones that had senior titles were generally superstars bringing in a ton of revenue/building the business.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether you work for a man or a woman. Just make sure you work for someone who's smart, can become your mentor, and will bring you along for good projects so you can get better experience.

I have a question for women who work in Investment Banking or any other sectors of the finance industry; do the pros outweigh the cons? I know that IB isn't the friendliest environment for females, but it's something that I'm passionate about and would like to pursue a career in. Let's discuss.....
