What if I do not get hired by a bank?

I'll be honest, I want to be a banker more than anything in the world, but realistically I don't have much of a chance. I'm a 3.3 student from ohio state university with some great work experience at a PE firm. Although I have learned a lot after two summers at a PE firm, I know I won't be looked at with my shitty gpa and non-ivy league school. What other careers would you guys suggest to start in so I can eventually transfer over? Some of the associates have recommended consulting, credit analyst, corporate 2 year training program (GE, P&G, Etc.) Thanks for all of your advice in advance.

I had a 3.0 GPA and came from a much smaller and lesser known (though top-30) public school and had multiple BB offers, so nothing's impossible.

And for the record, I believe it is comparably difficult to get into a 2-year corp training program at places like P&G - GE is easier but don't short-change those accelerated management-track programs. And unless you're at Bain, BCG, McKinsey - you're wasting your time in consulting.

I look at it as a numbers game, so I will be applying to as many as possible. I am focusing on middle market banks in New York, Chicago, and Boston, but am also open to opportunites at boutiques for more experience. I will be applying to banks such as:

Piper Jaffray Brown, Gibbons, Lang & Co. Stout Risius Ross Harris Williams & Co. Lincoln International Duff & Phelps, LLC Key Bank

BGL, Harris Williams, and Lincoln International have shown interest in interviewing me so far. I am fortunate though that Fisher College of Business (OSU) is ranked 18th in the country with its finance program ranked 8th.

youre f'ed. j/k. go work for a ibanking boutique in NEW YORK. then use it as a springboard to get into BB then to pe. didn't know osu's finance program was ranked 8th--problem is most top schools and ivy schools other than penn dont have finance majors, actually wharton technically only has a concentration, so being ranked 8th is effectively worthless. wouldnt mention it.
