What is expected out of a freshman summer experience

I was scrolling through WSO as a way to procrastinate for finals. Just read a forum where a recruiter said he crosses out no-name IB boutique/BB PWM experience. wtf is a freshman supposed to do other than non-name IB boutique or BB PWM that can make recruiters glance an eye in their freshman summer. Confused rn

I worked at a non-profit freshman year and now I am going to a BB IB in NYC for junior year summer, you will be fine. Recruiter might have been having a tough day or has something in his behind

I worked at a restaurant, loved it, want to own restaurants after my stint in finance or whatever. Banks definitely don’t care unless you have an opportunity to do something like super cool.

Do something you have never tried and who knows you might end up loving it.

I wouldn't take one random recruiter's word... some of the campus recruiters are literally just random hires honestly. BB PWM or random IB is a VERY successful freshman summer.

The bankers will all be impressed by that type of work as a freshman and those are what actually matters - bankers forwarding your resume - you shouldn't be reliant on a recruiter picking it out of a black hole
