What is Houston and Chicago IB like?

Anyone know what IB is like in Houston and Chicago?

Are there a lot of opportunities for IB and are there large comp differences in senior roles when comparing Houston/Chicago to NYC?

How's the lifestyle like? Is it more relaxed? Are layoffs more common in Houston due to the cyclical nature of O&G?

Is it realistic to build a career in NYC and when you gain enough experience and seniority at a bank, you move out to their Houston or Chicago office? I like NYC but I just can't stand the COL and I don't want to be stuck here forever.
