What is more important: GPA or Major?

I currently go to UC Berkeley and am trying to get into Haas. In case I do not go to Haas, I am planning on declaring economics. I definitely want to double major (if I don't I graduate in 3 years and that's not something I want to do), but am unsure in what. If I do statistics or data science I am sure it will be more appealing to employers, but it will certainly lower my GPA. On the other hand, I could do Political Science or Global Studies, which employers probably won't care about, but it will improve my GPA. My question is: is a second major in another very useful subject worth it if it means my GPA will go down? Or is it better for me to take on an easier second major and improve my GPA with it? (I am interested in all of the majors I posed, I just want to do what is best for my career).
