What is the Finance Industry like in France?

Hello Monkeys,

I really want to move back to France and was wondering what the Finance culture is like over there, especially for investment banking. What is the Pay like? I am an intermediate in French, will this be much of a problem? What about the ever-so-popular taxes? Are they too much? I am currently debating London vs France. Besides the fact that London has a larger, more dominant finance culture/district, is there any other reason to pick London over France? I have lived in both countries and am very fine and familiar with their cultures, so the "people" aren't much of a problem for me. I just want to know the Pros and Cons of IB in each, with regards, especially, to the Pay and Taxes. My plan is to probably do IB in NY, hopefully for a BB, and then maybe after a year or so of bone crushing hard work, ask to transfer to another country.

Merci pour les reponses :)

Same but with more baguettes, croissants and cigarettes. Also be prepared to sacrifice roughly 50 percent of your income to taxes. Goodluck and godspeed

Here is a link about the taxes in France, if you want to work in France you must understand it: http://droit-finances.commentcamarche.net/contents/impot-revenu-declara…

Hope that helps, if you have any question PM me.

The pay is very close to London.

Pretty much if you're in the top income tax bracket in certain areas. In france you will for sure pay > 50% if you're in the top earnings bracket. Not too sure on the exact numbers but social charges are pretty hefty along with a high income tax. The us social security system is regressive, once you're a top dog you'll learn how to hide your money
