What is your HR horror story?

It seems like nearly everyone who has gone through recruiting or worked for some time has at least one story about HR. Whether it be trying to implement useless policies, promising things they shouldn't/couldn't have, or just flat out fucking up. What is your HR horror story?

Here's one of mine:

A few summers ago, I was going through the SA recruitment process and had been able to build solid connections with a few alumni at a MM bank. I went to a non-target and my connections pulled hard for me to get a superday, which I ended up getting. It was my first superday so when I showed up, I was nervous as hell and didn't really know what to expect. HR led me to a lounge area and told me to wait until the other candidates arrived. A few other candidates showed up and we all introduced ourselves and made small talk to not look antisocial. The other candidates kept giving me confused looks but I thought it could just be because I was from a non-target and they all went to top schools. HR comes back and hands us our schedules. At the top in bold I read, 20XX Diversity Superday. Being a white male, and the quintessential image of a frat boy, I can tell you I did not think I was supposed to be there, but not much I could do at this point. Went through all the interviews and thought I did well, then met with 2 of my connections from the bank for coffee afterward. I showed them the schedule and both of their faces went blank. They could not give me an answer of why I was in this superday but said they would look into it and let me know. A few days later, one of my connections reaches out and tells me HR had allowed too many offers to be given out at earlier superdays and the superday they were planning on me to attend was cancelled as they only had one SA spot left. Since they had already invited me, they put me in the diversity superday. Needless to say, I didn't get the offer.
