What makes you want to connect a potential candidate to another colleague?

When someone sends you a cold email and you take them up on a coffee chat, what makes you want to connect them to another banker in your group? Roughly what percent of candidates do you introduce to your coworkers after the first call?

Would an engaging conversation on deals make you more likely to refer them? Or would just talking about a common interest work better (the general goal of coffee chats)? Would just talking about your background and asking for advice be enough to get you to refer them to your coworker after one call?

Why would you not put someone in touch?
