What Master's Route do you think is the Best to take? (HEC / Oxford / LBS / ESSEC)

Hi, Everyone, I am currently 21 and just graduated from my undergrad. I want to get into Investment Banking but have no prior experience. I am taking a gap year right now to build up my CV with some Corporate Finance and Relevant Experience at Small, Relatively New Firms.

I want to do a Master's Program, but debating whether to do a MiF or an MiM. Money and expense aside, what do y'all believe is the best route and program to take between HEC MiF / MiM, Oxford's MFE, LBS MFA, and ESSEC's MiF / MiM, and why do you believe it's the best?

Also, If I choose France, I would dedicate time to learning French.

My target is London, I really want to work there long term specifically.

Oxford/HEC, LBS in that order IMO. Not sure about ESSEC.

HEC places very well into London and arguably better so than LSE. Those are the absolute top postgrad schools for finance so you must have a top 1% GMAT to even be asking this (median Oxford MFE GMAT Focus last year was like 725).

Also doesn’t matter for IB if your course is management or finance but if MiM historically places very well into consulting if you want to leave that door open.

Thank you for that! Yes, this is all the case in the GMAT Scenario, haha. I want to follow up with the HEC MiF v MiM, with the MiM, you get more opportunities to land an internship as it's longer as the MiF is just a 1-year program, so wouldn't that be a better option?

Also, I am a non-EU student, so how would studying at a French School work for sponsorships with Summer/Off-cycle London Internships?

Honestly I like the idea of doing a course longer than a year as it gives you more time and opportunity to recruit to a top tier firm as a graduate. If you can afford it and want a safety cushion then MiM could be a good idea since it’s longer.

In terms of visa sponsorships, some of the BB sponsor although I am from the UK so not very in the loop with this. You’re going to have to look at how uni location affects work visas in the UK.

Just a small correction, i dont think the median gmat focus score would be 725, i think you meant 730 of older gmat which translates to a 685/695 currently
