What Test should I take? Advice needed

I'm a laid-off Investment Banker, as you know there's not really jobs to be had right now but I'm not ready to take something out of "high finance." I'm planning on waiting it out for another 3-5 months just to see what happens during this time and I would like to put my time to completing either my CPA, CFA level 1, or take the GMAT (aim at getting a very high score, not just take it). I'd like to do something I can fully complete and show that I was busy doing something so I'm leaning towards the CPA. Plus, worst case scenario I could easily land a job in accounting if nothing had picked up. However, I was just wondering what test would be looked on most favorably by potential employers in finance? Should I try to do them all (not sure how wise that would be)? Not even sure how a CPA would be viewed in IB. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to enrol in a B-school, then GMAT is a must. But if you want to besome an AM, then in your shoes I'd take CFA 1.

Just my 2c.

I should of mentioned that I don't want to do B-school for another 2-4 years and that I do have an accounting background.
