What to wear to informational interview
I will be grabbing coffee with an analyst for an informational interview and was wondering what I should wear. I was thinking about wearing a suit but don't want to be overly formal.
Suit up unless told otherwise. Especially if it's in their office (like the Starbucks at GS SkyLobby or coffee bar at Barclays HQ etc), in that case no doubt but if it's at some random NYC/Houston/SF Starbucks, you may be able to get away with business casual (jacket, no tie etc.)
so my answer is different from ^ - I would say biz casual is fine - most ppl in banking are not wearing suits constantly unless they are meeting w/clients so it is usually biz casual
I had a bad experience where I met an associate on the weekend and suited up and I felt like an absolute moron b/c he was casual and we met at a coffee shop by his house - he even commented saying why tf are you wearing a suit lol
if it is the weekend just look nice - not biz casual prob. if you are meeting them in the office then prob biz casual. idk if it would ever be good to wear a suit? maybe unless you were meeting like lloyd or something lol.
