There goes my weekend...

The Choosy Beggar - highly important resource for monkeys in NYC who need to know what sales are going on at any given time. Paying full retail is just being lazy.

Hi, Eric Stratton, rush chairman, damn glad to meet you.

You can't beat http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/

and I actually now prefer finance.google.com to finance.yahoo.com

I always like to print out an economist.com before before I get the issue on Friday and bring to the crapper.

Entertainment: cracked.com is pretty hilarious.. Check that once a week or so.

i'd like an invite to lolstreet as well.

my favorite website is reader.google.com . just subscribe to everything remotely interesting.

Stoo StryfeDSP:

WSO, Misc, Drudge, Business Insider, FT, SeekingAlpha, MotleyFool, CNBC

what is Misc and FT?

Misc section of Bodybuilding.com forums. In terms of forums you can belong too it's ranked like - Misc, Reddit, 4chan in descending order.

FT = Financial Times

add zerohedge and Reuters to that list. Also you can use Twitter for news. I personally use Zite app for iPhone.

"When a defining moment comes along you define the moment or the moment defines you."

FT is my preferred source.

However, an interesting read on why you should not consume news can be found on Rolf Dobelli's home page ("Why you should stay away from the news"). Dobelli has founded a think-tank in Zurich whose members are amongst others Nassim Nicholas Taleb. I personally think that in banking though, it is impossible to stay away from the news. For less advisory driven jobs it may be a great approach!

I'd like to also add Quartz to the list. Excellent writing happening there, and great site design too.

Currently: future neurologist, current psychotherapist Previously: investor relations (top consulting firm), M&A consulting (Big 4), M&A banking (MM)

Used to misc once in a while, still do actually but a lot of people on that forum have a really warped view of the world.

I look at the world completely different after spending a 2 years now on that forum. Sort of like how WSO has warped my view of what a good job is

strong this.

But IMO it is good (even though it is bad?) WSO has taught me to strive for my best and to succeed. I use to get anxiety from coming onto WSO because I saw everyone else being successful and I wasn't (in high school - lol srs). Once I entered college I hit the ground running and now I work in structured products. On the other hand, the Misc has kept me sane and always provides me with a good smirk or two during a stressful day.

WSJ, NY Times, Globaltimes (for Chinese news), WSO, and most important of all - conversations with colleagues/friends (assuming they are the news savvy type).

i hear the "Search" feature of www.WallStreetOasis.com is a good one

Some random people on dealbreaker claim she's pretty hot (not sure if its hot hot or banker hot). Regardless, of whether she's a 6 or a 10, I think you may need to take a number. It's a very long line. But if I married her, I probably have other things on the good ol' to-do list ahead of picking her brain.

Other blogs on my daily reading list: Dealbreaker, Leveraged Sellout, Epicurean Deal, Long or Short, Epicurean Dealmaker, Deal Journal, DealBook

GameTheoryAlso, I doubt anyone on DB has seen her in person (except maybe Bess Levin, but even then I doubt it's more than online correspondence).

I also think that Muffie and EquityPrivate are one and the same, just like other people have theories that John Carney and Bess are one and the same.

no way Bess and Carney are the same, their writing styles are so different. Particularly how usually when Bess tries to be funny, she does a decent job. When Carney tries to be funny it blows up in his face.

Finance, especially NY finance, is a very very small world.

I could see EP being Anne Hathaway (older of course) / Eva Green hot.
