When a non-Finance Chick asks....

So I am getting ready to start FT in Foreign Exchange S&T, but more on the Sales side. And I understand if a non-finance girl asks what you do, you just say, "I'm in finance". But if she presses further and asks for more detail, do you say:

a) I am an Investment Banker (she wouldn't know the difference anyway)
b) I am a Trader (to avoid the stigma of being a 'salesman')
c) I am in Foreign Exchange Distribution (which she probably has no idea what that is)

Any advice is appreciated

"I'm in finance" is a fine answer. If she actually cares enough to ask more (rare) then I'd say you do FX sales.

Calling yourself an investment banker (vague and has a different meaning to people in finance) or a trader (just wrong) both make you sound like a tool.

Besides, if she lives in new york then she probably has heard enough people at least explain what they do to have a general idea.

Just be honest and say that you trade currency. No harm, no foul. Honestly, unless she has an interest or at least feigns it to make her seem more interested, it's gonna drop pretty quickly from the topic of discussion.

I would tell her I come fromm a wealthy European family and your father wanted you to go into banking to learn how to manage the famili money(that's true -> pro-tip)
