When does background check take place?

Hey monkeys!

I have accepted an offer for a SA position from a big fund and there was no information about the background check in the offer, nor have I been contacted about it. I accepted the offer more than a week ago.

I am not worried about it as I have nothing to hide, but I would like to know if I will have to go through it. I do not want to contact the HR department because it could look suspicious.

So, when should I know if I have to go through the background check? Is that usually stated in the offer letter? And when does it take place?

Thanks.

It can happen any time from now up until your start date, or even after that. You probably won't have to do anything, given that you provided an accurate description of your past experiences. Most large firms use a third party to do the check, so they will just pass your information along to them. In my case, I was notified about a week after the internship started that my past employer was phoned to confirm I had worked there. Obviously every place is different but I honestly wouldn't think too much about it, especially since you have nothing to hide.
