Which has more interesting work - capital markets or corporate banking?

I heard you do more modeling in corporate banking and the lifestyle is even better in corporate banking. Also is it possible to go from corporate banking to direct lending/debt fund?

I would say Capital Markets deals are more interesting and the role is probably more interesting/exciting overall. However, you do get a decent bit of company/industry analysis in CB. As far as modeling in CB, it will come down to which bank. Don’t expect real modeling unless it’s a bank that leads their deals. Also there is a huge difference between the various capital markets groups (IG DCM, Lev Fin, ECM, etc.).
