why am i only successful at one type of interview? what am i doing wrong, will this affect my exit opps

I'm feeling a little lost...so i am a senior in college, going to be starting at GS/MS/JP IB upon graduation. Did both soph and junior summers at one of the above three firms (not the one I'm starting at full time) and so have had success with BB recruiting as well as for smaller buyside shops like Putnam, Wellington, MFS etc. however, I don't know why but I'm trying to apply for Co-ops and stuff like that for senior year in econ consulting, non profit sector (in finance and education) and advertising, and so far nothing at all has panned out?

Like, even the finance non profit think tank, the CEO used to work in the same team at the same firm as the one i will be starting on...I didnt get to speak with her but my interviewers obviously knew my background as it was on my resume. Although I felt like i didnt really want to do these interviews (since I already had a Co-op offer that I quite liked) I felt like I still ~tried~ during the interviews, like I had prepped, read up on the company, asked questions at the end, engaged in small talk etc etc.

Why do you guys think this is the case? I'm mainly concerned because idk why it seems like I can only succeed at BB S&T/IB interviews and smaller buy side places...I would like non profits or econ consulting to be an exit opp possibility after my stint in IB, but i don't know what I'm doing wrong to be a non desirable candidate for these fields throughout my Co-op search.
