Why are people who post to the salary database too goddamn stupid to do it properly?

People:

The base salary should be the salary for the year you are being paid for. Not your new base. Same for title. If you were an Ao3 and got promoted to VP, your comp was for Ao3. It also shouldn't be your total comp. People on 200 + 150 are putting 350 in the salary field and 150 in the bonus field and now the database thinks your total comp is 500.

This shit is not complicated, get it together.

Agreed, there's kind of a hardcore 'moral hazard' or w.e. here, where people just type up random garbage in the reviews and salary database just to get access to it, but it has essentially become this broken feedback loop where people

1) Make up stuff for the database to get access to the database

2) Get access to the database

3) Discover that it is filled with low quality data

Then it gets rinsed and repeated. Rather than having a 'blockage system,' where you are restricted from having access to the database unless you contribute, you should have an incentive system where you get a BENEFIT for posting on it and the database is completely open regardless of whether or not you contribute, that way the people who contribute by their own volition are more motivated to be truthful since there is a reward for it and they don't feel like they have to 'say something just for the sake of saying something' maybe throw in a t-shirt or a free call or something, idk? But the database has too much low quality info.

Agree wholeheartedly think of how many undergrads with no actual salary to share probably just post random crap so they can get access to the database while they're recruiting.
