I am pretty sure you need to be either a resident of the other country or on a work visa to work from overseas even if your employer is based elsewhere. There may also be additional tax burden for the bank and compliance issues (VPN, offshore access to restricted data).

Did you really move overseas without telling your MD or anyone in HR? You may be fucked actually, not just in for a scolding

 

Tax issue is a bullshit reason. You're still paying taxes based on your home state and location of the company. I've worked from home in Europe for 4-5 months, and this hasn't changed how I'm taxed at all (home residence and company is based in NYC). It's a very easy excuse for firms to use to try and keep you in your home base.

It’s just general observation. If you are stuck in Manhattan or parent’s basement, less likely you are on a boat party in Miami. You may deserve it, but you also can’t ride a boat if no one pays you $200K for being available.
