Will be 32 when finishing my undergrad

I’m a 30 year old white male (I say this to point out I’m not going to fulfill any DEI requirements) transferring either to UCLA (BizEcon) or Columbia GS(for Econ/FinEcon). My goal is to work in IB after I graduate. I would prefer to land a BB job, but for the purposes of my question I’m also wondering about boutique firm placement.

I am looking for advice on what school to choose.

My age will likely disadvantage me when applying for jobs so I guess my question is what school will help me overcome that the best. I should also note that if I go to Columbia I might be 33 when I graduate because of different requirements. My thinking is that there is less competition(even if it’s just slightly) on the west coast, and I’ll be younger by the time I graduate so that’s a reason to go for UCLA. With Columbia I’ll get the prestige of Columbia (although there is some stigma with School of General Studies), but might be a little older by the time I graduate.

Any advice at all is greatly appreciated, and if anyone here has started school later like me, and gotten into IB please let me know I would love to ask a couple questions.

li lu graduated from columbia at age 30, although he had an insane life story as to why. now he doesn't have to live in nyc to beat the stock market.

i also know people who grew up dirt poor, or came from dysfunctional families, and didn't start college until age 24 because of fafsa financial aid independent age status (need to be 24+ years old to be considered an independent), many of them community college transfers to target schools (usually cornell, georgetown, and columbia).

don't compare yourself with others, have a great life story, and the rest should work itself out.

lol
I spent my late teens and early 20’s traveling internationally teaching English, working sales, managing ski shops. So little different than Van.
Did you take a more traditional route to IB?

Yeah just from some stuff I’ve read around BB’s don’t want to hire people older than their associates.
That’s being said WSO’s has made me feel like it’s not that big of a deal.

For me personally I spent 18-Mid 20’s traveling internationally. I worked a bunch of different jobs from teaching English to nature guiding boats in Fiordland national park New Zealand.
For Columbia, they have certain classes that they won’t accept transfer credits from any school so I’ll have to take some pre-req’s and extra classes I would otherwise not need to take at UCLA.
