Will FP&A prepare me for joining as a FT IB analyst?

I did an IB summer internship after graduating from university and I secured a return offer to join the summer analyst class of 2022. The VP said he would push for an early start but he hasn't responded to my text so no idea what to expect.

First I thought about applying to other off-cycle IB internships but don't want to be stuck aligning powerpoint images again while not even being able to put together a proper DCF-model. Now I've been offered a FT job in FP&A at a giant energy company and I wonder if it's a good idea to pursue that for 5-8 months before quitting? Or should I just spend my days as an unemployed gamer and hitting the gym?
